The American's Creed
Mon Jun 06, 2005 at 06:30:40 AM PDT
Yesterday at an estate sale I purchased a very nice picture titled "The American's Creed". It was in a gold picture frame, has the fancy lettering, a picture of the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, the Washington Monument, a photo of the United States Capitol, and a gold eagle on each side of the capitol photo. I thought it would look nice hanging on my living room wall. After reading the inscription called "The American's Creed", I realized I was familiar with it from the days of my youth from way back when. I imagine one of my teachers in school gave us a lesson about this important document. It was written by William Tyler Page, and I decided to see what I could find out about Mr. Page and his American's Creed on the internet. The Creed was written in 1917, and accepted by the United States House of Representatives on April 3, 1918.

PLEA FOR UNITY
Recently last week someone wrote a diary suggesting that Texas be "demonized". Why are people bashing and throwing rocks at Texas? Could it be because our Presnit has made his residence in our state? Many people do not know that George W. Bush was actually born in the state of Connecticut. Anybody can come to Texas, buy land, build a house, a farm, a ranch. We can't say no to people, don't live here, it's a free country. Why don't we demonize Ohio or Florida? John Kerry needed to win one state to the win the Presidency, and both Ohio and Florida went red and to George W. Bush. I don't think I would ever demonize either state, especially Ohio, and here's why:
Call Your Senators about VIVA 2005
Tue Feb 01, 2005 at 09:26:07 AM PDT
VIVA 2005 known as the Voting and Integrity Act of 2005 is waiting to be introduced in the Senate by Senator John Ensign R-NV. In a truly bipartisan effort Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid D-NV and Assistant Minority Leader Dick Durbin D-IL will be co-cosponsoring the bill.
Viva 2005 requires that:
Voters in federal elections be able to review a paper version of their ballot before it is cast and counted.
Paper ballots and electronic ballots produced by a voting machine must match. In the event of discrepancies, the voter verified paper ballot would be considered the correct record of the votes cast.
In the event of a recount or audit, the paper ballots would be used as the official record of votes cast.
If your senator is Republican or both, simply ask them to co-sponsor the bill.
If a Democrat ask them to simply support this bill.
MSNBC Brian Williams Story on Travis Avenue Baptist Church
Thu Jan 13, 2005 at 07:09:59 AM PDT
Yesterday Brian Williams of MSNBC News reported from Channel 5 in Fort Worth Texas. They presented a story about Travis Avenue Baptist Church which sits on the southside of Fort Worth. The story was presented as if everybody in Texas just loves George Bush. I sent an email and said they should have presented the liberal side of the story, as that church sits on a poor side of town, and most of the people in that neighborhood voted against George Bush. That story was irritating to me because NBC is one of those media that enables George Bush and his radical policies. I told them they needed to try to present fair and balanced news stories. They did not report the voter fraud in Ohio, nor did they report the historic day on Jan. 6th on the protest of Ohio electors. I also said that George Bush intended to dismantle the Social Security System. Let's not fix anything that is not broken. Social security will be solvent for the next fifty two years.
