Could George HW Bush be Deep Throat?
Fri Feb 04, 2005 at 06:53:14 PM PDT
Today, on both the news and the internet, I heard mentioned for the first time the possibility that Dear Leader 41 might be the infamous "Deep Throat" of Watergate fame.
At first, I was incredulous, mainly because I never heard his name mentioned as a possibility before, and also because I thought he was part of the Cheney/Rumsfeld crowd who resented the investigations into Nixon.
However, I just read this letter on Poynter which has offered up a number of interesting facts I was previously unaware of (scroll down to the letter with the headline "Author: George Herbert Walker Bush is Deep Throat" posted on 2/4/2005).
First off, the point should be made that previously unreleased notes of Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward were just placed in a diplay at the University of Texas at Austin, which is interesting in and of itself. But the letter makes some more substantial, interesting arguments:
Am I Seeing This? GOV. Bush is going to tour S. Asia??
Thu Dec 30, 2004 at 02:14:21 PM PDT
I'm watching Mr. Trent Duffy live on MSGOP right now, as he gives another CYA pressie about the US response to the Tsunami disaster.
The byline at the bottom says "Powell & Gov. Bush to tour SE Asia".
WTF?? Why is JEB being elevated to this?
Of course, I'm assuming that this is the kickoff to the "Jebbie in '08" presidential campaign. After all, it's not like the Bushes ever use monumental human suffering to advance their causes, eh?
Does anyone else feel like we're living in the twilight zone??

I enjoy watching CNN International on occasion, as it provides me with more of a world view on news, which is increasingly in short supply in this country.
As I was watching it this weekend, a ticker feed started scrolling across the screen, saying that CNN International was going bye-bye, but we were still welcome to watch 'regular' CNN and CNN Headline News.
Hmmmm - I have DirecTV, which I heard was recently swallowed down the maw of the insidious Murdoch empire, which instantly made me suspicious.
I Love Wilco! Jeff displays Bush's 'salute'!
Tue Nov 16, 2004 at 12:39:34 PM PDT
I absolutely love this band. Just saw them in Seattle last week, and it was an AWESOME show. He made some political statements, but not as much as he just did in San Fran. And he displayed Bush's 'one-fingered salute' on their background screen, while playing "Don't Fear the Reaper."
Thank you, Jeff!!!
Heil the Great Bush!!

Apparently when a person attends a Bush rally, they not only have to sign the 'pledge', now they have to raise one arm up in the air and recite 'the Bush Pledge' (from
http://www.slate.com/Default.aspx?id=2108852& ):
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.--"I want you to stand, raise your right hands," and recite "the Bush Pledge," said Florida state Sen. Ken Pruitt. The assembled mass of about 2,000 in this Treasure Coast town about an hour north of West Palm Beach dutifully rose, arms aloft, and repeated after Pruitt: "I care about freedom and liberty. I care about my family. I care about my country. Because I care, I promise to work hard to re-elect, re-elect George W. Bush as president of the United States."
A "MUST WATCH" for EVERYONE: "Ballot Battles" on Discovery Times
Tue Oct 26, 2004 at 08:43:58 PM PDT
I saw this documentary on the Discovery Times Channel about a month ago, and it is truly an astounding investigation into all the balloting problems, both current and potential.
In particular, everyone should really watch this just to witness scenes of Jeb Bush lording over individual felons as they come before him and beg, plead and cry for their voting rights to be restored. Jeb seems to relish his role as an almost God-like figure, as he grills these poor folk and just arbitrarily decides who gets their rights back and who doesn't. Please, if you have cable and have access to the Discovery Times Channel, make time to watch/record this. It will definitely open your eyes (and probably make you pretty enraged).
It is on here on Pacific Time at 9:00 pm (I'm on DirecTV satellite, and the channel for me is 285 - please be sure to check your own listings and times).
If you can't view or record it tonight, it appears to be repeating a number of times throughout the day tomorrow.
This show is very well-done, and should give us all a good idea of what to be looking for a week from today!
George HW Bush is a pathetic jerk...
Fri Oct 22, 2004 at 10:03:26 AM PDT
Just saw a clip of him on MSGOP - he was speaking at some high-falutin' dinner, whining yet again at how much he and Bar's little feelings are soooo hurt by John Kerry 'attacking' their wittle boy...
I'm paraphrasing, but the comments went something like: "I don't know who's going to blow first, Mt. St. Helens or Barbara". Oooh, hee hee hee, Mr. Bush you're sooo funny!!
But the kicker was this one: "Once Barbara gets ahold of John Kerry, he's going to need ANOTHER Purple Heart!" Ah hahahaha, whatta guy!!
Of course, Sam Shane and Lisa Daniels, the anchors, were laughing heartily and thinkin' it was just some great funnin' and all!!
How pathetic. And let me guess: there will be not a stitch of outrage from the SCLM at all, instead they will be greatly amused, as I just witnessed.
Sometimes I just don't even believe what I'm seeing anymore...
First it was Daran Kagan and Rush Limbaugh...
