President Skull vs Senator Bones

Sat Nov 27, 2004 at 11:51:03 AM PDT

Well basically I'm so disgusted I can barely post... Listening on Radio 4 to the hoards in the Ukraine versus the "coverage" in the US -- even on Kos! -- I'm just at a loss.

Greens Shame Dems...

Here however is a good piece I found via http://www.votecobb.org (in notable contrast with http://www.johnkerry.com/ I must say). I don't agree with everything in the article perhaps but can't disagree with the main thrust.

I guess one of the pledges in the Skull and Bones is never to challenge an election result...

"The Confederacy has finally won," declared Dr. Michael Dawson, Harvard  Professor of Government and African American Studies. "Forget about  Red vs. Blue. The states that voted for  President Bush were the territories  and states which allowed slavery (with one or two small exceptions  at the border - Iowa and Maryland)." Indiana and Ohio are also "free  state" anomalies that don't match the pre-Civil  War map - but  the Green and Libertarian parties are set for a recount that  just might turn Ohio from Red to Blue, no thanks whatsoever to the  Democratic standard-dropper, John Kerry.

The Greens, who don't stand to win anything except the respect and  admiration of all decent people, raised nearly $150,000 in only four  days to challenge George Bush's unofficial 136,000 vote margin in each  of Ohio's poll precincts. Kerry had the same option and plenty of cash  on hand ($15 million in unspent campaign funds), but took the Skull  and Bones path, fearing a contested outcome might damage the legitimacy  of a system that he values just as dearly as his erstwhile opponent,  George Bush - Black voters be damned. There is no law against making  a concession speech and getting a recount, but oligarchs like  Kerry treasure stability above all else - it keeps them on top.

Sadly that about sums it up. The Greens raise $250K and where is Kerry? I know this has been addressed before but the point remains valid... John Kerry "reporting for duty" bah humbug. Skull or Bones, what's the difference when it comes to protecting voters' rights? Not much, it seems.

  •  I can understand your frustration. (none / 0)

I feel it too. This election has taught me that grassroots begins at home, and the most important part of reform starts in our own homes, and possibly this keyboard.

Don't wait for our leaders to reform. We need to reform ourselves.

  •  ..This is difficult (none / 0)

..stuff to fully process.  We had so much riding on this and it is hard to accept that all that could have been done was not because our candidate has other loyalties.  Make no mistake though ... he will and is receiving the consequence of it...but it is intangible.  It is what our hearts now know about him.  There is no recovery from that - at least not in mine.

  •  Skull and Bones (4.00 / 3)

Did you ever think that the reason the Green party is filing the protest instead of the Kerry camp is that if Kerry basically recuses himself from the process that it adds legitimacy to the complaint.  In all of John Kerry's years in the senate, he has been a model of integrity.  To bring up some skull and bones argument to marginalize the senator is nothing less than a cheap shot.  I campaigned vigorously for John kerry and would do so again.  This article is an insultto a great man who ran a great race.  These things are unfortunate.
    •  Bullshit (1.50 / 4)

Kerry shafted us then pocketed the money...fact are facts.

DLC Centrism assumes that if Democrats move to the right the Republicans are going to stand still.

No, you're bullshit.  Go out and try to do something constructive instead of concocting assinine conspiracy theories.  This whole skull and bones nonsense is bullshit.  There are absolutely no facts substantiating that Kerry let Bush slide because of this skull and bones whiny crap of yours.
  •  bah, Skull and Bones is overrated (none / 1)

Scroll and Key is the place to be nowadays.
